As the number one veterinary school in the world, the RVC is committed to achieving excellence in teaching and research. This commitment extends to environmental sustainability and an opportunity has arisen for a pro-active and knowledgeable individual to take the lead on achieving this aim.

Along with delivering teaching for veterinary qualifications, the Collage has three veterinary clinics, research labs and a working farm. The RVC is located over two campuses in Camden, London and the 550-acre Hawkshead estate in Hertfordshire.

Working within the Infrastructure Services team, you will be responsible for engaging with all areas of the College to promote environmentally sustainable practices. You will lead on the implementation of the College’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy and its continued development. To support the strategy’s aims, you will be responsible for planning and delivering projects relating to; energy and carbon reduction, biodiversity enhancement, resources and recycling, sustainable transport and water management.

Day to day you will support teams in complying with relevant environmental legislation as a minimum and implementing new practices to go beyond this. Using your strong analytical skills, you will collate and review environmental data to track progress against targets and identify trends. You will create opportunities to engage with students, staff and other stakeholders on environmental issues and promote sustainable behaviours. Working closely with other colleagues, you will promote the sustainability credentials of the College both internally and externally.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in delivering impactful environmental sustainability projects in a complex organisation. A relevant environmental / sustainability degree is essential and a minimum PIEMA membership is desirable. Working knowledge of ISO14001:2015 certification is also preferred. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to inspire behaviour change. You will be confident engaging with a range on individuals, from senior management to operations staff. A pro-active approach and ability to use your own initiative are also essential for the role.
