We currently have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced RVN to assist the Head Emergency and Critical Care RVNs in leading a team of specialised nurses in the Emergency and Critical Care department of the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals – one of the largest and best equipped emergency veterinary facilities in the UK. In addition to state-of-the-art facilities, we are the only recognised Level 1 Trauma Centre in Europe with extensive in-house laboratory capabilities and the support of our on-site transfusion service allowing us to provide the highest level of care to critically ill patients.
Our multi-disciplinary hospital accepts a range of referral and first opinion cases, and you will work as part of our team of ECC specialist Clinicians, residents, interns, RVNs and Patient Care Assistants to provide excellent care to our patients. You will assist the Head nurses within the department to manage the running of the night shifts and provide leadership, training, and support to the night team.
The successful candidate will have strong experience of working with emergency and critical patients in a busy hospital or referral setting and experience line managing or coordinating teams. Ideally you will be a clinical coach and have experience supervising veterinary and/or veterinary nurse students.
Rota: you will be required to work 12 shifts a month, 8pm-8.30am.
We are open to discussing rota suggestions which will provide cover across Monday-Sunday over the course of a month. As you will be providing support to both our weekday and weekend night nursing teams, you should expect to work across 2 weekends in a month.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to advance your clinical, leadership and teaching skills in a supportive environment.
We offer a generous reward package and benefits including:
Competitive and attractive pension package
Generous 30 days annual leave (plus concessionary days and bank holidays)
