Exciting teaching opportunity in Primary Care at The Royal Veterinary College
We have exciting opportunities for Teaching Fellows in Primary Care, within the Department of Clinical Science and Services (CCS). We are looking to recruit teaching fellows to contribute to the clinical teaching in the rotation phase of our undergraduate veterinary courses. We invite applications from individuals with expertise in small animals, farm animals or horses, and familiarity with primary care practice in the UK. These roles will involve successful applicants in the effective delivery of clinical rotations, focused on primary care. The post holders should expect to develop and deliver teaching with the aim of preparing and supporting students undertaking clinical rotations and to assist in the delivery of and reflection on feedback. The role involves primary care clinical work in addition to coordination, teaching and assessment of veterinary students. Each successful applicant will only be expected to work in a single species area.
You will be based on our Hawkshead Campus, but may also be asked to support teaching in other clinical facilities associated with our clinical teaching, and so should be prepared to travel. You will work closely and collaboratively with rotation leaders and other members of the clinical team to deliver the learning objectives of our primary care-focused rotations that run throughout the year. The role will involve extensive interactions with colleagues and students and require excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
We are looking to recruit veterinary surgeons (MRCVS or eligible for MRCVS) with a desire to teach in a primary care setting and contribute to the development of the next generation of veterinarians. Previous teaching and assessment experience within a clinical setting would be an advantage but is not essential.
Ideally, we are looking to fill this position with a full-time employees, but we would consider a part time roles or job share arrangements for the right candidate(s).
We offer a generous reward package and benefits including:
- Competitive and attractive pension package
- Generous Holiday entitlement + concessionary days
- A range of family friendly policies, including adoption, maternity and paternity pay and leave
- On site café and restaurant
- Free membership to the newly built Fitness and Wellbeing Centre located on site (gym, badminton, climbing wall, Zumba, yoga and Pilates classes included)
- Cycle to work scheme
- Free mini-bus service to and from Potters Bar station and Hawkshead Campus
