The successful candidate needs to have good organisation and time management skills to work independently and as part of a bigger team. The Deputy Head Equine Nurse role is a varied and demanding support position for a dedicated hard-working individual delivering exemplary nursing care and ensuring that the team supports a positive learning experience for all VN trainees and under- and postgraduate students in the Equine Hospital. Reporting to the Head Nurse, the role is responsible for supporting the management of a team of qualified RVNs, nursing apprentices and equine technicians. Working alongside our internationally renowned specialist teams in Equine medicine, surgery, and diagnostics, you will support the Head Nurse, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

With a focus on delivering the highest standards of patient care, you will play a key role in working with the Head Nurse to identify areas for continuous optimisation of services, implementing and reviewing policies and procedures to support clinical compliance.

The successful candidate needs to have a positive can-do attitude, team leadership skills and experience in working in a busy Equine Hospital or practice. The ability to work independently and as part of a bigger team is also required. You will be required to work on a shift pattern that includes out of hours, Bank Holidays and weekends for which an additional supplement is paid.
