The Royal Veterinary College wishes to appoint an Assistant Research Administrator to support the high quality administration of its growing portfolio of externally-funded research grants and contracts.  This person will join a small team of research support professionals that manages funding from a wide variety of sources including: UK Research Councils, the European Commission, industry, government bodies and charities. The College’s income from these bodies, together with funds received from clinical consultancies, is around £20 million p.a. This total is generated by fewer than 200 academic staff, marking out the RVC as a research intensive institution.

As Assistant Research Administrator, you will assist the Deputy Head of Research Administration and other members of the Research Office team to ensure the sound financial management of awards. This will include tasks such as: setting up of project codes for new awards; aiding colleagues in the compilation of financial expenditure statements for funding bodies; and providing advice to academic staff on various issues relating to grants and contracts.

You will have a basic knowledge and understanding of financial administration / research grants administration, ideally gained in a university, research institute or similar kind of institution. Above all, you will be a team player who is eager to learn and acquire new skills, knowledge and experience, and to put these into practice with the support of your line manager. As part of a friendly office, your efforts will make an important contribution to the wider work of managing research at a world-class higher education institution.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact: Mrs Carol Lawson, Deputy Head of Research Administration (T: 020 7468 5184, E: clawson@rvc.ac.uk).

We offer a generous reward package.
