We invite applications for a fixed term position as Staff Clinician in Equine Surgery in the Department of Clinical Science and Services. The service is integrated into the large team of specialists working in RVC Equine and located in our Hawkshead Campus, a 15-minute train ride from the centre of cosmopolitan London and near a number of international airports.

This post is suitable for an equine surgeon who is aiming to expand his/her clinical expertise by focused delivery of clinical services combined with pursuing their research interests. Specifically, we are looking for an equine surgeon with a strong interest in upper airway surgery to strengthen and develop our existing reputation as centre of excellence in the field. The candidate will be supported by our existing team in the development of his/her skills. Some ambulatory duties (40% of the time) allowing identification and diagnostic work up of upper airway cases in the field are along with routine ambulatory work are expected. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong interest in the field of upper respiratory tract disease and be prepared to spend part of their time in our existing research team. We are looking for candidates with a RCVS registrable degree in veterinary science, who are recent diplomats of the American or European postgraduate diploma in Equine/Large Animal Surgery or are eligible to sit the examination of the respective Colleges by the end of February 2021. An interest in research in the area of equine upper airway disease is essential. You will be expected to contribute to other clinical activities and participate in the surgery out of hours rota. You will also be expected to supervise and mentor under– and postgraduate students as required.
