This position is ideal for an RVN keen to develop their nursing career and specialise in Orthopaedic nursing.             <p id="isPasted">We are seeking a Technician to support an RVC-Industry research collaboration to develop a phage-bead technology for detection of mycobacteria. The research will further optimise and generate validation data of an existing phage-bead system to determine the range of pathogens, limit of detection, sensitivity, and specificity of the assay, to further the technology towards commercialisation.</p><p>The role will involve processing of clinical samples and application of a phage-based and molecular assays. Experience in basic microbiology, aseptic technique and molecular biology would be beneficial &ndash; experience with bacteriophage would be a bonus. The post-holder will also be expected to understand the application of the technology and be able to think critically to support its development, through application of appropriate methodologies to test hypotheses and identify suitable alternatives if technical problems arise. They will be able to select, follow, and adapt experimental protocols, gather, analyse, and present scientific data from a variety of sources, and <span id="isPasted">communicate results in oral and written format to supervisors and industry collaborators</span></p><p>In addition, the post-holder will be expected to communicate effectively and enthusiastically with all relevant team members, attend regular meetings with the project supervisors and commercial partners, and participate in University activities such as, training workshops and lab meetings.             <p id="isPasted">We currently have a unique opportunity for a RVN to work part-time twilight hours (Fri-Sun 18:00 - 02:00) within our Emergency and Critical Care team.</p><p>Our multi-disciplinary hospital accepts a range of referral and first opinion cases. In addition to state-of-the-art facilities, we are the only recognised Level 1 Trauma Centre in Europe with extensive in-house laboratory capabilities and the support of our on-site transfusion service allowing us to provide the highest level of care to critically&nbsp;ill patients. As part of our Emergency and Critical Care team you will be working alongside our experienced specialised RVNs, Patient Care Assistants, students, residents, clinicians and interns to triage and care for patients during their stay in the department.</p><p>Your role will evolve, however you can expect to be triaging and supporting with the stabilisation of patients on arrival to the hospital, in addition to monitoring patients for minor procedures and caring for inpatients seen through our first opinion service.</p><p>Working hours will be 21 hours every weekend, Friday-Sunday working twilight shifts: 18:00-02:00.             <p id="isPasted" style="text-align: justify;">We have an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated Veterinary Theatre and Diagnostics support team in The Queen Mother Hospital for Animals. You will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team working within the theatre and diagnostics environment and will play an important role helping to ensure the smooth transition of our patients and providing high standards of hygiene and stock maintenance in anaesthesia, diagnostics and our operating theatres. &nbsp;</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Duties include:</p><ul><li style="text-align: justify;">Infection control duties within the theatre and diagnostics areas of the hospital</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Assisting with the setup of operating theatres and diagnostic rooms (such as ultrasound, radiography, CT etc.)</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Cleaning of operating theatres and equipment after use</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Assisting our sterilising technicians with the cleaning and maintenance of surgical equipment</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Stocking up consumables</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Laundry</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Patient restraint and assisting nurses within the recovery ward when required</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Assisting the nursing team acting as a circulating assistant on surgical cases</li></ul><p style="text-align: justify;">The role is full time, 35 hours per week, working various shifts between Monday-Friday with 1:4 weekends (Saturday and Sunday) with days off in lieu.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align: justify;">This post would suit a friendly team player with some basic experience within a human or veterinary clinical environment who will be enthusiastic and willing to learn.             <p id="isPasted">We currently have a unique opportunity for a RVN to work part-time within our Emergency and Critical Care team!</p><p>Our multi-disciplinary hospital accepts a range of referral and first opinion cases. In addition to state-of-the-art facilities, we are the only recognised Level 1 Trauma Center in Europe with extensive in-house laboratory capabilities and the support of our on-site transfusion service allowing us to provide the highest level of care to critically ill patients.
