          <description>Category: Clinical Training Scholarships | Closing Date: 28 Feb 2012 | Equine clinical training scholars will receive advanced training in a rotating internship in equine surgery, equine internal medicine, equine anaesthesia and equine diagnostic imaging based in the Equine Referral Hospital at the RVC. There is also the opportunity to spend time at other referral centres. This scholarship counts as a rotating internship for the Specialist European Colleges. Two scholarships will commence on Monday 2 July 2012 and one on Monday 7 January 2013 for a fixed term of 12 months. The tax-free stipend is &amp;pound;13,749.

          <description>Category: Clinical Training Scholarships | Closing Date: 09 Mar 2012 | Farm Animal Health and Production clinical training scholars will receive advanced training and gain experience including internal medicine and surgery, livestock health and production, theriogenology and veterinary public health. There will be two scholarship tracks available, one offering the opportunity to rotate duties between the Farm Animal Clinical Centre, the RVC-Northpoint Ambulatory practice and the RVC Regional Veterinary Centre in South Wales, and the other practice based either at WestPoint Veterinary Group or Synergy Veterinary Services. Six scholarships will commence on Monday 2 July 2012 for a fixed term of 12 months. The tax-free stipend is &amp;pound;13,749.

We require an enthusiastic colleague to complete our team of 9 nurses.&amp;nbsp; You will use your nursing skills in all aspects of our busy first opinion practice, assisting veterinary surgeons, veterinary students and trainee veterinary nurses.
As a teaching hospital, you will be providing guidance to final year vet students on a daily basis. You will also be providing valued nurse clinics to our clients and hold an influential position within our progressive team. We have a mixed small animal case load, and spacious recently refurbished clinical facilities.
The weekend rota and evening duties are shared evenly across the team with generous time in lieu provided. Regular in-house training is also provided in conjuction with access to external CPD.

The successful candidate will be involved in a range of research activity working within the RVC Electronic Patient Record initiative, VetCompass (www.rvc.ac.uk/VetCompass), in collaboration with the Kennel Club.
This position will involve the collation and analysis of research results derived from the Vetcompass Electronic patient records linked to Kennel Club held pedigree data. It will require the management of a large dataset, data cleaning and analysis and the production of written progress reports and submission of findings in the form of publications in peer-reviewed journals. The successful candidate may also be required to assist in the preparation of grant applications and the supervision of any students allocated to related work. Prior epidemiological and database expertise and experience working in practice would be advantageous.

We are looking for a Research Technician to join Jim Usherwood&amp;rsquo;s group in the dynamic and successful Structure and Motion Laboratory at the Royal Veterinary College, as part of a five year Wellcome funded project investigating the strategies and constraints of powering locomotion with muscle using limbs that also support weight.
The research involves studies of flying, walking and running in birds and rodents. You will be responsible for setting up experimental equipment, collecting and analysing data (force platform, motion analysis, respirometry and muscle physiology), exercising and training animals and looking after them during data collection and working within Good Research Practice and Health and Safety standards.
You should be enthusiastic about research and confident working with animals, have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and be a team player. Some experience of biomechanics, physiology or engineering is highly desirable, as is a science-related degree or HND/HNC.

The successful candidate will be involved in a research project assessing the risk of influenza viruses becoming pandemic, other research projects and teaching activities related to risk assessment and thereby assisting the Group in reaching project milestones and the overall successful completion of these projects.
